Stromwall lifts Ams past Chiefs in OT
SPOKANE - Malte Stromwall scored 21 seconds into overtime to give the Tri-City Americans a 4-3 overtime win against the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League play in front of a sellout crowd of 10,366 at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night.
It is Spokane's third straight loss, and the third consecutive win for Tri-City in the season series.
Spokane's Todd Fiddler scored his 30th goal of the season with 11 seconds remaining in the first period to tie the game at 1-1.
Carter Proft scored on a rebound midway through the second period to give Spokane a 2-1 lead after two.
Tri-City scored two goals in the first 11 minutes of the third period to take a 3-2 lead before Dylan Walchuk scored on the power play to send the game to overtime.
For Spokane, it is the fourth loss in 24 games when leading after two periods - three of the losses coming to Tri-City.
Spokane (28-16-2-0, 58 points) leads Tri-City by one point for second place in the U.S. Division and plays at Portland on Monday at 3 p.m.
