LEWISTON - The Lakeland Hawks came away with eight placers, led by Brandon Yount's second-place finish at 145 pounds to finish second at the Clearwater Classic at Lewis-Clark State College.
"It turned out to be a good trip for the guys this weekend," Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. "We came out pretty solid in the opening round (Friday), but had a rough go last night and on Saturday morning, but the guys wrestled hard to come back and finish second."
Justin Wright (106), Will Putman (145) and Jesse Putman (152) were third, and Tyler Siegford (98), Brandon Mailhot (152), Dustin Hannawalt (126) and Karsen Walker (160) finished fifth.
Ryan Starr was the highest placer for Timberlake, finishing second at 98 pounds. The Tigers had five placers to finish fifth.
"We only took half of the team due to injuries, but the guys that showed up wrestled decent," Timberlake coach Ryan Montang said. "I thought we did pretty good. I really didn't know what to expect with not taking many guys, but to be in the top handful of teams is pretty good. It was another decent team showing, and that's what we're looking for going into the postseason."
Timberlake travels to Kellogg on Thursday.
