PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Trojans overcome foul start at Lewiston

| January 20, 2013 8:00 PM

LEWISTON - The NFL will determine its conference champions this afternoon.

On Friday night, the 5A Inland Empire League girls basketball championship will be decided at The Arena in Post Falls.

Brooke Litalien scored 14 points and Danielle Failor had 10 points and 11 rebounds as the second-ranked Post Falls Trojans beat the fifth-ranked Lewiston Bengals 50-41 at Booth Hall on Saturday.

"We got into foul trouble in the first half," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "The fouls were 13-2 to start the game and we had three starters (Katie King, Brooke Litalien, Lexi Smith) play half a quarter, but the bench did a good job of keeping us close. We got some turnovers and transition baskets in the second half, but I'm proud of how they hung in there in the first half and played through it and did a good job."

The win by the Trojans (17-1, 4-1 5A IEL), along with Coeur d'Alene's 45-37 win on Friday against Lewiston, will set up a winner-take-all game at The Arena on Friday, with the winning team hosting the first night of the 5A Region 1 tournament on Feb. 1.
