No. 21 Ducks improve to 5-0 in conference play

Tony Woods scored 18 points and No. 21 Oregon pulled away over the final 6 1/2 minutes to beat No. 24 UCLA 76-67 on Saturday at Los Angeles, improving the Ducks to 5-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time in 39 years.
Dominic Artis added 14 points, and Arsaian Kezemi had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Ducks (16-2, 5-0), who snapped the Bruins' 10-game winning streak, including eight straight victories at home.
UCLA (15-4, 5-1) led by three points at halftime after shooting 55 percent. They led by five early in the second half and tied the game at 52-all before the Ducks' defense stepped up and sent the Bruins' shooting into a tailspin.
Utah 74, Washington 65: At Seattle, Jason Washburn scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half, Brandon Taylor added a career-high 19 off the bench and Utah won its first Pac-12 road game in two seasons as a member of the conference with a stunning victory over the Huskies (12-6, 4-1).
The Utes (9-9, 1-5) were winless in conference play this season and having last won a Pac-12 game on Feb. 25, 2012 against Stanford, used hot shooting and a smart defensive plan to take down the Huskies and hand Washington its first conference loss. Washington was trying to start 5-0 in conference play for the first time since 1984.
No. 7 Arizona 71, Arizona State 54: At Tempe, Ariz., Mark Lyons scored 24 points, Nick Johnson added 19 and Arizona beat Arizona State (14-4, 3-2).
Arizona (16-1, 4-1 Pac-12) was solid at both ends and went on the decisive run after Arizona State point guard Jahii Carson picked up his fourth foul midway through the second half. Solomon Hill added 13 points for the Wildcats, who scored 18 points off turnovers and outscored the Sun Devils by 14 inside.
Stanford 69, California 59: At Stanford, Calif., Dwight Powell scored 17 points and had seven rebounds to lead Stanford (11-7, 2-3 Pac-12) past California (10-7, 2-3).
Stanford's Chasson Randle added 15 points and John Gage came off the bench to score 14.
Southern California 69, Oregon State 68: At Los Angeles, Aaron Fuller's only basket, a layup with 4.8 seconds remaining, gave USC (8-11, 3-3) a victory over the Beavers.
The lead changed hands eight times in the final 2:52. Eric Moreland fed Joe Burton for a layup with 12.6 seconds to play to give Oregon State (10-8, 0-4 Pac-12) a 68-67 lead.
Devon Collier's game-winning attempt was blocked by Eric Wise as time ran out.
Texas State 81, UTSA 78, OT: At San Antonio, Reid Koenen scored 23 points and drilled a key 3-pointer in overtime as Texas State (5-14, 1-6) defeated Texas-San Antonio (4-13, 0-7 Western Athletic Conference).
New Mexico State 70, San Jose State 53: At Las Cruces, N.M., Bandja Sy had 16 points and eight rebounds and Daniel Mullings added 13 points to lead New Mexico State past the Spartans (9-9, 3-4).
Tyrone Watson scored 10 points for the Aggies (12-8, 6-2 WAC), who have won six straight games.
Denver 68, Utah State 57: At Denver, Brett Olson scored 18 points and the Pioneers (11-7, 7-1 WAC) beat Utah State (14-3, 5-2) for their seventh straight win.
Louisiana Tech 78, Seattle U 71: At Ruston, La., Alex Hamilton and Jaron Johnson both came off the bench to score 15 points apiece and Louisiana Tech (16-3, 7-0 WAC) beat the Redhawks (6-11, 1-6).
San Francisco 62, Loyola Marymount 53: At San Francisco, Cole Dickerson scored 18 points Saturday to help the Dons (8-11, 1-5 West Coast Conference) beat the Lions (8-11, 1-5).
Santa Clara 83, Pepperdine 76: At Malibu, Calif., Kevin Foster scored 29 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Santa Clara (14-6, 3-3) over Pepperdine (9-9, 1-4 WCC).
BYU 74, San Diego 57: At Provo, Utah, Tyler Haws scored 25 points and BYU (15-5, 5-1 WCC) beat San Diego (11-9, 4-1).
Saint Mary's 60, Portland 38: Stephen Holt scored 13 points, Matthew Dellavedova added 11 points, six assists and four rebounds, and the Gaels (15-4, 4-1 WCC) routed the host Pilots (8-12, 1-4).

Montana 76, Montana State 71, OT: At Missoula, Kareem Jamar had 23 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds to lead Montana past Montana State.
Will Cherry had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies (12-4, 8-0 Big Sky), who gave coach Wayne Tinkle his 74th conference win, a school record.
Former Post Falls High standout Marcus Colbert had nine points, three rebounds and three assists for the Bobcats (6-9, 3-4).

No. 6 Syracuse 70, No. 1 Louisville 68: At Louisville, Ky., Brandon Triche scored 23 points and Michael Carter-Williams scored the final four points as Syracuse rallied to upset the Cardinals.
Carter-Williams had 16 points, Jerami Grant and C.J. Fair both had 10 for the Orange (17-1, 5-0 Big East) who won their seventh straight.
Russ Smith's 25 points led Louisville (16-2, 4-1), which had its 11-game winning streak stopped.
No. 4 Kansas 64, Texas 59: At Austin, Texas, Ben McLemore scored 16 points and Kansas stormed back from a late double-digit deficit to stun Texas for its 15th straight win.
Jeff Withey added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks (16-1, 4-0 Big 12), who trailed by 11 points in the second half before McLemore steered a rally that prevented the reeling Longhorns (8-9, 0-4) from a badly needed victory in this troubled season.
No. 10 Florida 83, No. 17 Missouri 52: At Gainesville, Fla., Scottie Wilbekin had 13 points and 10 assists, his first career double-double, and Florida (14-2, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) thumped Missouri (13-4, 2-2).
No. 18 Michigan State 59, No. 11 Ohio State 56: At East Lansing, Mich., Keith Appling made two free throws with 7.9 seconds left and finished with 15 points to help Michigan State (16-3, 5-1 Big Ten) beat Ohio State (13-4, 3-2).
Wichita State 67, No. 12 Creighton 64: At Wichita, Kan., Carl Hall had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Malcolm Armstead hit two key free throws in the closing seconds to help Wichita State hold off Creighton (17-2, 6-1).
Cleanthony Early added 13 points and Demetric Williams had 10 for the Shockers (17-2, 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference), who pushed their home-court winning streak to 17 games.
Wyoming 58, No. 15 San Diego State 45: At Laramie, Wyo., Leonard Washington had 14 points and 14 rebounds to help Wyoming beat the Aztecs (14-4, 2-2).
Larry Nance Jr. added 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Derrious Gilmore had 13 points for the Cowboys (15-2, 2-2 Mountain West).
No. 16 Kansas State 69, Oklahoma 60: At Manhattan, Kan., Rodney McGruder scored 20 points and Will Spradling added 15 as Kansas State (15-2, 4-0 Big 12) beat the Sooners (12-4, 3-1).
No. 20 Notre Dame 69, Rutgers 66: At South Bend, Ind., Jack Cooley had 19 points, 10 rebounds and blocked a shot with 2 seconds left to help Notre Dame (15-3, 3-2 Big East) hang on for a win over Rutgers (14-4, 3-3), ending a two-game losing streak for the Fighting Irish.
No. 22 Virginia Commonwealth 90, Duquesne 63: At Pittsburgh, Rob Brandenberg scored 22 points and VCU (16-3, 4-0 Atlantic 10) routed Duquesne (7-11, 0-4).
VCU (16-3, 4-0 Atlantic 10) used a 26-2 run to seize control.
Cincinnati 71, No. 25 Marquette 69, OT: At Cincinnati, Sean Kilpatrick scored seven of his career-high 36 points in overtime, and Cincinnati (16-3, 4-2 Big East) blew a 16-point lead before rallying to a victory over Marquette (13-4, 4-1), ending the Bearcats' streak of three straight home losses.
Cincinnati (16-3, 4-2 Big East) pulled it out without point guard Cashmere Wright, who sprained his right knee during a 75-70 win at DePaul on Tuesday night. Without him, the Bearcats depended almost solely on Kilpatrick for points.
