Top-ranked Cards improve to 8-1

COOS BAY, Ore. - North Idaho College's Kyle Sweedman won by pin at 174 pounds and the NJCAA top-ranked Cardinals wrestling team defeated Southwestern Oregon Community College 32-12 on Friday night.

"Everyone survived, but it wasn't pretty," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "We will have to wrestle better tomorrow against Clackamas, who is No. 3 in the nation."

Nicholas Moreno (157) and Caleb Rivera (184) added major decision victories for the Cardinals (8-1), who wrestle at Clackamas (Ore.) tonight and compete in the Clackamas Open on Sunday.
