Clear your hydrants

COEUR d'ALENE - Firefighters are asking for the public's help to keep fire hydrants clear of snow.

Officials said searching for a fire hydrant covered in snow takes time from efforts to extinguish a fire in a home or business.

"Team up with your neighbors or employees and make a plan to keep fire hydrants clear of snow and ice so that emergency crews can hook up their hoses should the need arise, in a fast and efficient manner," the release said.
