WHY GOODBYE

Oh Lord above of endless love,

why do you take our young?

Our broken hearts are pierced with darts,

our heads are deeply hung.

But may we hope that as we cope,

thy new arrivals shine,

that in our loss we see the cross,

what once was ours, is thine.

So let their eyes behold those skies,

beyond the blue we see,

and may their song join with thy throng,

in heavens harmony.

Just ease our pain and stop the rain,

as new days form the past,

renew our strength to go the length,

until rejoined at last.

Epilogue:

It's still hard to talk about Sandy Hook. Evil indeed visited that town and left it changed forever. We all unite in sorrow when children are the victims. We know of their innocense and ignorance of a declining morality in this country. We tolerate too much and teach too little. We suffer together even though we can't get it together. Don't use this as an excuse for turning from God; use it as a reason to turn toward him.

- Jeff Simonson, Kellogg

REVERENCE

i promise not to imagine you holier than you are by nature

you and i came in with angel wings

hidden even to ourselves.

i will not hold you higher

believe you more special

or bow when in your presence

but i will adore you.

i will not allow myself blindness

or seek perfection

whatever that may be.

it is you

the very you of you

that i will train my eye to see.

this is more than enough.

this is everything.

- Jan Sarchio, Coeur d'Alene
