NIC wrestlers return from break with win

DES MOINES, Wash. — In his first appearance for North Idaho College, Curtis Berger won by pin at 285 pounds as the Cardinals wrestling team defeated Highline Community College 35-12 on Thursday night in their first match after the holiday break.

“For not being on the mat in a competitive manner for a month, I’ll take it,” NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. “We’ll have to wrestle better tomorrow.”

NIC (7-1), ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA, wrestles at Southwestern Oregon tonight in Coos Bay, Ore.
