GUNS: Good going, Gaines
As a life-long resident of Coeur d’Alene, I would like to thank Mr. J.D. Gaines for his “My Turn” comments regarding Sholeh Patrick’s column about American gun ownership. As a former Press carrier, I would also like to thank the Coeur d’Alene Press for continuing to publish and allow its readership to tell it like we see it.
Although I don’t usually read Ms. Patrick’s column for personal reasons, I just had to see how she would handle the Second Amendment.
When I read her article I didn’t have a good feeling about what was being presented. I had the distinct feeling that I was being led down the “Primrose Path” but couldn’t put my finger on it; Mr. Gaines did.
In his “Column on guns is way off target” he made the astute observation that “While Ms. Patrick put up a pretty solid wall of platitudes on the behalf of guns, her personal biases push out through the cracks.” I had to smile when I Googled “Passive/Aggressive Behavior” and read the Urban Dictionary’s definition of it; “A defense mechanism that allows people who aren’t comfortable being openly aggressive get what they want under the guise of still tying to please others. They want their way, but they also want everyone to still like them.” Mr. Gaines nailed it!
