Hayden man sentenced for fraud

A 35-year-old Hayden man was sentenced last week for insurance fraud, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said.

First District Judge John Mitchell sentenced Kevin C. Mangola to up to 10 years in prison and ordered him to pay a $3,000 fine plus court costs.

The court suspended the prison term and ordered Mangola to perform 400 hours of community service and serve four years on supervised probation.

Mangola pleaded guilty Oct. 4 to one felony count of insurance fraud.

By pleading guilty, Mangola admitted that he submitted two receipts to his insurance company in the amount of $100 for towing and $987 for repairs previously made on his vehicle.

The insurance company determined further investigation was needed because the tow invoice was numbered after the repair invoice. Upon further questioning, Mangola withdrew his claims for payment.

Sentry Insurance referred the case to the Idaho Department of Insurance for investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rondee Blessing of the Attorney General's insurance crimes unit.
