POST FALLS - Hermiston (Ore.) defeated defending champion Post Falls 38-35 to win the championship of the Gold Bracket at the 16th annual River City Duals on Saturday at The Arena.

"Overall, it's disappointing to lose to Hermiston," Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. "But I'm proud of how the kids fought. This weekend, they competed really hard and had the desire to win. Even in those matches where we were overmatched, the kids were fighting their guts out and finding a way to win. I'm happy with my guys."

Lakeland beat Ephrata, Priest River and Lewis and Clark to win the Silver Bracket.

Tanner McNelly (113 pounds) and Lewis Dunton (132) both went 5-0 over the weekend to lead Sandpoint to a third-place finish in the Silver Bracket.

Mahonri Hunsaker (138), Josh Travers (195) and Chris Bunty (160) each went 4-1 as Sandpoint beat Kamiakin 43-35 and lost 47-30 to Capital on Friday to advance into the Silver Bracket.

The Bulldogs beat Bishop Kelly 56-36 in the final dual of the day on Saturday, earning their third straight win after topping Shadle Park 45-30 and Connell 54-27 earlier in the day.

Three runners-up as Vikings seventh in Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. — The Coeur d’Alene High trio of Anthony Price (98 pounds), A.J. Konda (113) and Hudson Staub (171) all finished second in their respective weight classes to help the Vikings finish seventh in the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic at Sentinel High.

“Overall, it was a great tournament,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “It was a great weekend of wrestling. In a tough tournament, we kind of turned the corner and started wrestling to our ability. Anthony was going for a takedown, but just didn’t get it, but had some good wins. Hudson wrestled really well.”

Sean White finished fifth at 152 and both Drew Gorringe (120) and Gabe Ross (160) for Coeur d’Alene.

Blaine Invernon was third at 135 and Josh Tucker fifth at 119 for Bonners Ferry, which finished 19th.

Nick Wells was fifth at 130 and Jared Lambert finished seventh at 160 pounds for Lake City, which finished 27th.

“Anytime you place in a tournament like this, it’s a feather in your cap,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “For Nick, it was his first weekend back since injuring his knee (strained right ACL and partially torn PCL) and he wrestled really well.”
