College of Idaho tabs Moroski
to coach football team in 2014
CALDWELL - The College of Idaho named Mike Moroski, a former NFL quarterback and longtime assistant at UC Davis, the 17th head football coach in its program history.
The school is reviving its football program after a 35-year absence, and will begin competing in the NAIA Frontier Confererence starting in the 2014 season.
Moroski led the UC Davis Aggies to eight NCAA Division II postseason appearances during 17 years as offensive coordinator and most recently the program's assistant head coach.
During his time as offensive coordinator, the Aggies made three trips to the national quarterfinals and four trips to the national semifinals. In 2000, Moroski's offense averaged 47 points per game, ranking second in the nation. In 2001, the offense averaged 41 points and 511 yards per game, helping him earn the Division II National Coach of the Year.
Eastern football players leaving for a shot at the pros
A pair of Eastern Washington football players with eligibility remaining have decided not to return for their senior seasons, coach Beau Baldwin announced.
Brandon Kaufman, a two-time All-America wide receiver, signed with an agent on Sunday and will pursue opportunities to play professional football.
Baldwin also said Kyle Padron, who transferred from Southern Methodist University, is not enrolled for the winter quarter and presumably will pursue his own opportunities at the professional level.
Kaufman will train in Orlando, along with fellow Eagle wide receiver Greg Herd, who was a senior in 2012. He is 20 credits shy of graduating and said he will continue to take classes online.
