OBAMA: Police state of a different stripe

| January 9, 2013 8:00 PM

My how times have changed. In the dead of night and behind closed doors, President Obama has just signed an extension of the warrantless wiretap law. Also known as The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), this law came into public prominence under the George W. Bush administration because the program allowed warrantless domestic wire tapping.

Back then the American left called Bush “Hitler” and shouted concerns of a potential “police state.” They took to the streets and shouted how illegal wire taps, the war in Afghanistan and the detention camp (GITMO) in Cuba were in direct violation of our constitution and founding principles.

Now that “Yes We Can” and “Hope & Change” has been elected for a second term, their lofty ideals have been shelved. More important matters are at hand. The rich need to be soaked, wealth needs to be redistributed, free stuff needs to be handed out and guns need to confiscated. You see, a “Police State” is just fine for liberals when the guy doing the policing is on Team Democrat.
