Alleged domestic stabbing incident reported

POST FALLS - An alleged stabbing involving a boyfriend and girlfriend early Saturday is being reviewed by the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Vincent D. Smith, 48, of Post Falls, told Kootenai County sheriff's deputies that he was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen steak knife while he was sleeping by his girlfriend Vicki L. Ingram, 52, also of Post Falls.

Smith was transported to Kootenai Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Ingram, who was taken into custody, alleged that she was being attacked by Smith and stabbed him in self defense.

Due to the inconsistent stories and lack of other witnesses, Ingram was released from the Kootenai County jail with no charges filed. The sheriff's office has turned the file over to the prosecutor's office.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, according to the sheriff's office.

Both Ingram and Smith have been booked into the local jail multiple times in recent years for probation violation, drugs and DUI.

Autopsies confirm Hayden murder-suicide

Autopsies confirm that Thursday's shooting involving a Hayden couple at their home was a murder-suicide as investigators suspected.

The shooter Daryl R. Clark, 43, and the victim Tina M. Clark, 48, each died of a single gun shot wound in the head, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. A 9 mm handgun was used.

Tina was shot at an "intermediate" distance, meaning her death was not self-inflicted.

Authorities are still waiting on toxicology reports to see if drugs or alcohol played a role, but there was no immediate signs of such at the scene.
