BULBS: Dim motives behind changes

So they’ve taken away our 100 and now 75 watt incandescent light bulbs and are soon to eliminate the 60s and 40s. But does anyone know or care that, according to the scientists at a prestigious midwestern university, fluorescent bulbs emit radiation and change DNA (because of these factors, they use them in lab experiments). Oh joy, now we can read our books by the light of these carcinogenic lights and be radiated for rather long periods of time. Lest you think that the radiation is low and not harmful, the body protects itself against radiation above specific threshholds, but not below. And regarding changing DNA, with birth defects rapidly climbing, do we need even more?
