An Athol family is asking the public to help law enforcement recover a costly dirtbike stolen last month.

Rich Rutigliano said his 17-year-old daughter Alicia discovered her 2009 Yamaha YZ250F taken from a locked shed in early December, along with riding equipment and a helmet.

The dirtbike is worth roughly $5,000, Rich said. It is labeled with the race number 818.

Alicia has been planning a career in motocross, he added.

"She's real bummed out about it all," he said.

His daughter has been riding since she was 8, he said. She has competed in races in California and Washington.

The family reported the theft to the Sheriff's Department, Rich said. He asks anyone with information to notify local law enforcement.
