PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Hayden, Scott lead Tigers past Sparts

| January 6, 2013 8:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER - Johnny Hayden and Keegan Scott provided a one-two punch from the perimeter for Timberlake, scoring 17 and 16, respectively, to lead the Tigers to a 63-55 Intermountain League win over Priest River on Saturday at Spartan Gymnasium.

Hayden hit 7 of his 11 shots for Timberlake (8-2, 2-0 IML), which went on a 10-0 run early in the second half and sealed the win by converting big free throws down the stretch.

"Both teams played hard, which was nice," Timberlake coach Tony Hanna said. "Priest River is a well-coached team, very disciplined and they can always shoot. They actually outworked us tonight so we were lucky to get the win, but did what we needed to do and hit big free throws down the stretch."

Austin Allen added nine points for Timberlake, which travels to Newport on Tuesday.

Cameron Riley scored 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting and Akre scored 11 points for Priest River (6-5, 0-1), which travels to Kellogg on Saturday.
