Michael Curtis Hanson, 54

1958-2012

Michael (Mike) Curtis Hanson passed away on Dec. 27, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Mike was born Jan. 14, 1958, in McMinnville, Ore. In 1964, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene where Mike graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1976. Shortly after graduation, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army operation Sheridan Tanks in Fulda, Germany. Upon completion of his enlistment, Mike returned to Coeur d’Alene and enrolled in North Idaho College and on to the University of Idaho where he received his B.S. in electrical engineering.

In 1987, Mike began his career at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash., where he would spend the next 25 years.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, SCUBA diving, disc golf and listening to music while enjoying a frothy pint of Ale. Mike was also a devoted fan of the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks. Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

Mike was a respectful son, wonderful father, loving brother and a true friend. He had a positive attitude and lived life to the fullest, and his joy for life was clear in everything he did. Mike was a great man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him well.

Mike is survived by his parents, Roger and Janice Hanson of Grand Ronde, Ore.; brothers, David Hanson of Willamina, Ore., and Doug and Loretta Hanson of Vancouver, Wash.

Mike is also survived by his four beautiful daughters, Angel and Jason Muller of Coeur d’Alene, Crystal Delaney and fiancé Erik Grimaldo of Bremerton, Kresada Delaney of Coeur d’Alene, Jasmine and Jason LaPolla of Olalla, Wash.; his three grandchildren, Brenya Grimaldo, Kaydence Skaggs-Hanson and Kasyn Muller; and a host of extended family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Kitsap Conference Center, 100 Washington Ave., Bremerton.
