QUOTE: Not up to high standards
I know that we live in a country where we have freedom of speech and also a free press.
But, the quote by COUNCILMAN McEvers and printed by The Press on Dec. 28, in 20-point type, and right under the main headline, has shown how far we have fallen. That language was put on the back burner and was in the vernacular, trash talk. I spent more than 30 years on the fire department and never once did I revert to that kind of expression.
So, shame on you Councilman Woody for using that expression. I’m sure that when your daughter uses that self-same talk, you would say, “Where did you learn to talk like that?” What are you going to say to her?
And, finally, shame on The Press for printing that for all to see. Serving Kootenai County since 1892. That sub-headline would never have seen print in 1892 or 1992. I hope the Spokesman-Review had better sense.
