Dorothy (Dottie) Thomas, 73
Nov. 28, 1939 - Dec. 30 2012
Our Mother, Dottie passed away peacefully and suddenly at home, Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
She was preceeded in death by her husband of 25 years, Lester Thomas; Mary Kohler (mother), John Kohler (father); Edward Kohler (brother) and Robert E. Hinote (first husband).
She is survived by her two sons, Robert B. Hinote (Anastasia) of Rathdrum and Douglas J. Hinote (Lori) of Post Falls; her granchildren, Jessica Gordon of Yakima, Wash., Emily Hinote and Jonathan Hinote of Post Falls; and her great-grandchild Diamond Gordon of Yakima. Three brothers and their wives, John and Faye Kohler of Yakima, Lee and Bonnie Kohler of Havre, Mont., and Gerald and Donna Kohler of Plentywood, Mont. Cousins Arreen Miller of Post Falls and Darleen Munson of Post Falls. Numerous uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country.
She was born to John and Mary Kohler in Plentywood, the third child of five and the only girl. She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1957, and began a short career as a beautician, earning her degree in Billings, Mont. Shortly after she moved to Yakima where she met our father Robert E. Hinote in 1961, married in 1962 and had two sons. They moved our family around the western side of the country until 1975 when they decided to call Post Falls home.
Later after the boys were raised and gone, she divorced and moved to Yakima where she would meet the love of her life, Les Thomas. He swept her off her feet for nearly 25 years until his passing in 2010. They enjoyed golfing together, fishing, refurbishing RV’s and golf carts in which mom did all the upolstery and fabric work, and Les took care of the esthetics and mechanical stuff. They always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the Eagles or American Legion. Wherever they went, together they went.
We love and miss you, but will always remember the love and nurturing you gave us even as men. We wouldn’t be the boys you raised without that. Rest in Peace mom, you’ve been through a lot over your life and now your time has come to rest a bit and prepare the way for the remainder of us to greet each other on the other side. You will always be remembered for the giving and loving soul you were, a smile and hug to whoever needed one.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at St. Georges Catholic Church in Post Falls. A luncheon will follow and then a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Georges Catholic Church.
