Crawford, Fausone claim derby honors

SANDPOINT - Miles Crawford and Al Fausone claimed top honors in Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club's 2012 Thanksgiving Derby.

Crawford of Liberty Lake, Wash., hooked a 20.28-pound fish that measured 34 1/2 inches to claim the adult rainbow trout division. Fausone of Sanger caught a 7.20-pound mackinaw that measured 28 inches to win that division.

Finishing second in the rainbow trout division was Ron Kingsley of Sagle with a 19.62-pound, 33 3/4-inch fish; followed by Dale Greene of Sandpoint, who caught a 18.3-pound, 32 1/2-inch fish.

Claiming second in the mackinaw division was Gale Belgarde of Sagle with a 6.92-pound, 26-inch fish; followed by Jim Carothers of Sagle, who caught a 6.38-pound, 27-inch laker to claim third.

Hali Morlin of Sagle claimed the top spot in the Youth A standings with a 13-pound rainbow that was 29 inches long. Hooking the top spot in the Youth B standings was Elly Vander Klok of Athol with a 7.72-pound, 25-inch rainbow.

The derby resumes today before pausing for the holiday. It starts back up on Friday and continues through Sunday.

Youth A - 1. Hali Morlin, Sagle, 13-pound rainbow trout, 29 inches; 2. Blake Jensen, Clark Fork, 9.38, 26 1/2, rainbow; 3. Jordie Breeden, Sandpoint, 7.82, 25 1/2, rainbow.

Youth B - 1. Elly Vander Klok, Athol, 7.72 pounds, 25 inches, rainbow; 2. Marshall Dillon, Athol, 4.48, 22 1/2, rainbow; 3. Isaih Allison, Coeur d'Alene, 2.40, 20, rainbow.
