William P. 'Bill' DeVore, 103
William P. “Bill” DeVore passed away at the age of 103 on Feb. 27, 2013, at Life Care Center in Post Falls. He was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Redlands, Calif., to Jesse and Walter DeVore. He was one of four children.
He lived the majority of his life in southern California and worked for the Southern California Edison Company for 40 years. He married Loyce G. Lasseter on Dec. 1, 1945, and they recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Bill and Loyce moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1991. He relished his new life in North Idaho…the seasons, fishing, camping, picking berries, blowing snow and so much more. After coming to Coeur d’Alene, Bill and Loyce became members of the Coeur d’Alene Bible Church.
Bill will be remembered, as his brother so eloquently said at Bill’s 100th birthday party, as “a straight arrow hard-working guy.” He will also be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to and love of his family and friends and his deep and abiding patriotism and love of his country.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion and his brothers, Chester and Walter. He is survived by his wife, Loyce and his children, Dorothy, Charles and Teresa and their spouses.
The family would like to express their thanks to North Star Retirement Community (formerly Fairwinds), Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai Medical Center and Life Care Center of Post Falls for their care and compassion.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, March 4, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, with graveside service at 1 p.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
