Spring fishing seminars offered

| February 28, 2013 8:00 PM

Spring seminars on fishing are slated to begin soon at Mark's Marine Inc., 14355 N Government Way, Hayden.

Roy Stokes, a member of both the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club and the Lake Pend Oreille Fisheries Recovery Task Force, will be demonstrating some of his planner board and trolling Techniques Thursday March 7.

"There is hardly a derby where Roy's name has not appeared in some capacity and it's no wonder, with over 40,000 hours of fish time on the water Roy has amassed a priceless knowledge of the changing conditions on the Lake," according to a press release. "Where most of our customers put in less than a hundred hours on their outboards a year, Roy's motors recorded almost 2,500 hours of run time."

Organizers said the spring fishing seminars are a fun way that Mark's Marine can give back to the fishing community and help it to grow.

"Fishing and hunting are very important segments of the economy in the Inland Northwest and this is one small way that local businesses like Mark's Marine can help to grow the sport," the release said.

The spring seminars schedule:

• March 7: Techniques for Pend Oreille by Roy Stokes

• March 15: Walleye fishing

• March 21: Pike fishing by Jeff Smith, owner of Fins and Feathers and local guide.
