Hazel seeks school trustee seat

COEUR d’ALENE — Christa Hazel is officially seeking election to the Coeur d’Alene School District Board of Trustees.

Hazel filed a petition for candidacy this week for the board’s Zone 1 seat now held by Brent Regan.

The trustees appointed Regan to the five-member board in December following the resignation of Jim Purtee.

Regan declined to comment Thursday on whether he would seek election.

The deadline for candidates to file their paperwork is 5 p.m. March 22.

To seek election to a seat on the school board, an individual must be a registered voter and reside in the zone connected to the position.

Zone 1 is District 271's largest trustee zone, covering the entire area east of 15th Street from the school district 's northern to southern boundaries.
