OBAMA: Total citizen disarmament

| February 27, 2013 9:48 PM

Americans, don’t be suckered anymore! The Obama Administration has declared war on your civil liberties, and this should be obvious to everyone.

First order of business was healthcare reform, and even as the majority of the people were opposed to the individual mandate, Obama pushed and threatened and bribed members of Congress until now we have the Obamacare disaster. Now the federal government claims legal authority to make decisions concerning your most private matter, your personal health.

This time it’s all about guns. Forget the fact that personal protection has always been a centerpiece of freedom, that we might need weapons someday to defend our freedom, or that the Supreme Court has finally ruled that the 2nd Amendment actually means what it says. None of these things will stand in the way of this administration.

We hear anti-gun activists repeat the need for “sensible” gun legislation, the need to “do something” to end violence in the schools and streets. Yep, we’ve heard it all before. Every new wave of proposed restrictions is always cloaked in this same “nobody is talking about taking your guns away” promise.

Strict gun laws are not something lacking in this country. Nearly every aspect of the ownership, possession, use, or buying and selling of firearms is currently regulated by government, one way or another.

It is true that at the moment the focus appears to be mainly on ammo magazine capacity, semi-auto rifles, and background checks, but we all know the game. Even with Joe Biden’s recommendation that we all buy shotguns, the end game must be total disarmament for it to have any meaningful effect, and this will be a step-by-step process. It will only be a matter of time until Joe’s shotgun is demonized for the potential devastation it can cause — roughly equal to any assault weapon at close range, and you can bet we’re only one shooting spree involving a shotgun away from a public discussion about banning shotguns. And expect to start hearing (again) how handguns are only meant for killing people — not practical for hunting. One more DC sniper-like event will naturally shine the spotlight on your scoped high-powered deer rifle, which will suddenly be revealed as the perfect sniper weapon.

If there were such a thing as “sensible gun legislation,” we should have already seen it working with the numerous existing gun laws, but of course they never actually prevent gun violence. This continued erosion of our freedom, on the other hand, is clear as daylight.
