Former teacher sues LCSC

LEWISTON (AP) - A former tenure-track lecturer at Lewis-Clark State College is suing the school in federal court, saying officials discriminated against her because of her gender and because she reported students' complaints of sexual harassment.

Leslie Rist filed the lawsuit in Idaho's U.S. District Court earlier this month, asking to be reinstated to her job at LCSC and awarded a half-million dollars in damages.

Rist filed formal charges of sex discrimination and retaliation against LCSC with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in April of 2011, and according to the lawsuit, the EEOC issued a determination finding reasonable cause to believe LCSC unlawfully retaliated against Rist.

The college has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
