Faye Simpson, 90

Faye Evelyn Simpson, 90, passed to be with her Lord Feb. 24, 2013, in Puyallup, Wash., at Pioneer House Adult Assisted Living Home. She was born Aug. 24, 1922, to Ira Hiram Cook and Maggie May (Derrick) Cook, in Asotin, Wash. Her father died six weeks after her birth. Five years later she became Faye Evelyn Kirkland when her mother married Charles Kirkland who was a very loving father.

Faye grew up and graduated from high school in Clarkston, Wash. On Sept. 27, 1942, she married Jack W. Simpson Sr. and celebrated more than 51 happy years of marriage before his death March 15, 1994. They lived in Moscow during World War II and later in Spokane, Ventura, Calif., and Los Gatos, Calif., until settling in Coeur d'Alene in 1954. After she was widowed she enjoyed several cruises and travel in Europe with the Rambling Rovers organization. She subsequently married Douglas Frymire on Sept. 1, 1997, who preceded her in death on July 27, 2012.

She worked as a telephone operator in Lewiston and was church secretary at the First Baptist Church in Coeur d'Alene. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years, loved singing in the choir and in a trio with her very close friends Ruth Lyseng and Ruth Harder. She also loved to read, sew and study the Bible.

She is survived by her son, Jack W. Simpson Jr. and wife Sue of Austin, Texas; daughter Sharon Trepus and husband Paul of Puyallup; her grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jordan, Andrea and Greg; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Aaron, Derrick and Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home Coeur d'Alene Chapel, with Pastor Mark Arbic officiating.
