| February 22, 2013 8:00 PM

MOSCOW - Senior guard Matt Horne hit four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points for Lakeland, but the Hawks lost to the Moscow Bears 60-53 in the 4A Region 1 tournament championship game on Thursday at Bear Den.

Horne finished with six of the Hawks' 10 3-pointers on the night.

"Matt was pretty key for us there to take a three-point lead after the third quarter," Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. "It was kind of a back-and-forth game. We were down by a bit at halftime, but came out and played well in the third quarter."

Alex Opland had 15 points and four assists and Tyrel Derrick had 10 points for Lakeland, which finishes the season 12-12 after going 1 of 3 from the free-throw line Thursday night, compared to 9 of 15 for Moscow.

Dane Randall scored 14 points for Moscow (16-5), which advances to the state tournament beginning next Thursday at Borah High in Boise.
