Art Works pleased to present new exhibit
SANDPOINT - Sandpoint's Art Works gallery is pleased to present a new exhibit of large-scale art on display from Feb. 22 to March 29.
All are invited to a special reception honoring the artists on March 15 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The seven participants use a variety of media, including oils, watercolors, photography, pastels, and fabric art.
Step into the autumn wonder of Alaska's Chugach State Park as you stand before Charles Gause's massive painting "Alpine Ramble." Gause was inspired by this stunning sight, discovered while hiking and later captured in spectacular color.
Stand back from Barbara Janusz' watercolor "Niagra Falls" or you might get wet! Her moving work conveys the sheer power of volumes of water rushing over the edge and mist rising from the turmoil.
Collecting stones on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille brought to mind "the meditative quality of the medieval labyrinths" for Kim Powers. She interprets this quality through fabric art with the hope of re-creating an introspective, peaceful feeling in the viewer.
Since 1995, Art Works has been a mainstay of downtown Sandpoint. The gallery, 214 N. First Ave., is a locally owned and operated artists' cooperative with a website a www.sandpointartworks.com. Open daily (closed Wednesday) from 10 to 4, Sundays, 11 to 4.
