| February 21, 2013 10:29 AM

In-person absentee voting for the March 12 school district elections will kick off on Monday, the Kootenai County clerk announced today.

Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Joint and Post Falls school districts each have a supplemental maintenance and operations levy on the ballot.

People can cast absentee ballots at the county Elections Office from this Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 8, said Clerk Cliff Hayes.

Only voters registered within the three school district boundaries are eligible to vote in the election.

The Elections Office, 1808 N. Third St. in Coeur d'Alene, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Currently registered voters should bring a photo ID. They can also sign a personal identity affidavit instead.

New registrants, or those who have moved and are re-registering, should bring a photo ID and proof of residing at their address for 30 days.

Voters who have questions about proof of residency documents should call the Elections Office, 446-1030.

Kootenai County also mails absentee ballots with return postage pre-paid.

An absentee ballot request form is available at http://www.kcgov.us/elections/AbsenteeBallotApplication.pdf.

The form can be returned to the elections office by mail, fax or e-mail.
