Timmy Mueller, a junior at Post Falls High, has been named the 2012 Gatorade Idaho boys soccer Player of the Year, becoming the first boys player from Post Falls to be selected.

Mueller, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound forward, led the Trojans to a 17-1-1 record and the state 5A championship last fall. Mueller scored 30 goals and added seven assists, and now has 74 goals and 19 assists in his prep career.

"Timmy Mueller was phenomenal; that's the only way I can describe him," Lewiston coach David Kronemann said in a release. "Not only was his athletic ability leaps and bounds ahead of my team, he was a student of the game. He knew where to be on the field to give himself and his team the best chance possible to score, move the ball and even defend."

Mueller has maintained a 3.94 grade point average. A longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America, he has volunteered locally on behalf of neighborhood beautification projects and as a youth soccer and basketball coach.
