Top-ranked Hoosiers edge No. 4 Spartans

| February 20, 2013 8:00 PM

Victor Oladipo's go-ahead putback, dunk and free throws in the final minute lifted top-ranked Indiana to a 72-68 win over No. 4 Michigan State (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten) on Tuesday night at East Lansing, Mich.

Indiana (24-3, 12-2) broke a first-place tie in the conference and moved a step closer toward earning top seeding next month in the NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers had lost 17 straight - since 1991 - on the road against the Spartans.

Michigan State blew opportunities at the line.

Trailing by three with 3.7 seconds left, Gary Harris was fouled on a 3-point attempt. He missed the first one and then after making the second, missed the third on purpose. Indiana got the rebound - Oladipo got to it, of course - and he hit two free throws to seal the win.

Keith Appling missed the front end of a one and one with a little more than a minute left.

Michigan State had won five straight.

No. 2 Miami 54, Virginia 50: At Coral Gables, Fla., Reggie Johnson made a tie-breaking layup with 5.7 seconds left and Miami (22-3, 13-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat Virginia (18-8, 8-5).

Missouri 63, No. 5 Florida 60: At Columbia, Mo., Laurence Bowers had 17 points plus 10 rebounds and Missouri erased a 13-point deficit midway through the second half to rally past Florida (21-4, 11-2 Southeastern Conference).

Phil Pressey added 10 assists, seven points, six rebounds and three steals for Missouri (19-7, 8-5).

Mike Rosario had 14 points for Florida, but missed a 3-point try at the buzzer.

No. 15 Butler 68, Duquesne 49: At Indianapolis, Rotnei Clarke scored 16 points, Khyle Marshall added 14 and Butler (22-5, 9-3 Atlantic 10) beat Duquesne (8-18, 1-11).

No. 17 Marquette 67, Seton Hall 46: At Newark, N.J., Vander Blue scored 19 points and Marquette (19-6, 10-3 Big East) beat Seton Hall (13-14, 2-12).

Saint Louis 76, No. 24 VCU 62: At St. Louis, Jordair Jett scored all 16 of his points in the second half and Mike McCall Jr. added 15 to help Saint Louis (20-5, 9-2 Atlantic 10) beat the Rams (21-6, 9-3).
