2030: Are we visionary leaders?

Bill Jhung, from Idaho’s Small Business Development Center, certainly challenged us at February’s Upbeat Breakfast, both in terms of our individual engagements in our leadership roles, and as a community. Bill, thank you for a great message on Tuesday. Now what?

No doubt many of you will analyze, with deep introspection, your own personal levels of engagement, but how do we challenge the community’s engagement level? How do we begin to think, act and lead more strategically?

We have a chance do just that through Cd’A 2030, a visionary process being discussed by many. As a community; where are we now? Where are we going? Where do we want to be? How do we get there? Are we getting there? What shared values do we have? These are questions that if answered, will as Bill Jhung suggested “lead us to a better future”

I, as many of you, had the opportunity to listen to Steven Ames during a series of meetings discussing this very topic. We do have an opportunity to make a difference. I believe that the Chamber’s membership should embrace this concept and actively participate. What better role for a Chamber but to help lead our citizens to a better future. As leaders in our community, are we engaged at the strategic level (visionary) or at the activity level? In other words, are we to be extraordinary or average? Let’s choose to be extraordinary.
