Man attempts to rob paper carrier

| February 16, 2013 8:00 PM

HAYDEN - A Press newspaper carrier delivering papers Friday morning reported a man tried to rob him.

The 22-year-old Post Falls man said he was in the 8400 block of north Rude Street in Hayden when he encountered an adult male laying in the front yard.

The male approached him and demanded money, inferring he had a gun, a press release said.

The carrier said he did not see a gun and "challenged the male."

The male then walked away northbound on Rude Street, the release said.

The suspect is described as white, about 6 feet, 2 inches and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark pants, a dark gray or dirty sweatshirt. He had a red bandana with white spots covering the lower portion of his face.

Kootenai County sheriff's deputies found a garage door open in the 8600 block of north Rude Street during their search for the man, along with a quiver of arrows propped up on a nearby fence.

The quiver had been taken from the open garage.

"Indications are that the male may have been in the area committing burglaries," the release said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the sheriff's office, 446-1300.
