Robert 'Bob' 'Sir' John Schreiber, 66

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher and coach, Robert John Schreiber, passed away Feb. 12, 2013, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene. He was born July 7, 1946, in Kellogg. Bob was the son of John P. and Rachael C. (Overmoe) Schreiber.

Bob attended and graduated from Kellogg High School in Kellogg in 1964. He then attended North Idaho College and later transferred to the University of Idaho, graduating in 1971 with a degree in education. Bob served in the Air National Guard for 35 years; he served as a Chief Master Sergeant.

Bob married Sally Anderson on June 22, 1968, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this June.

Bob had served as a teacher in geography, physical education and health; he also had served as a beloved coach. Bob first taught and coached at the Silver Hills Junior High School in Osburn and in 1991 he served as a teacher and coach at Wallace High School; Bob had taught for a total of 40 years. Bob had served as head coach for the Wallace High School Wrestling team; he coached wrestling for 31 years. He also coached baseball for 23 years.

Bob was honored for the North Idaho Student Teacher Achievement Recognition in 2007-2008, 2008-2009 and 2010-2011; he served as president of the North Idaho Wrestling League from 1985-2005 and just this year, was honored with the Life-Time Achievement award in this league; Bob will be inducted into the Idaho State Wrestling Hall of Fame in March. Bob served as president of the Wallace Baseball Little League. He was also a member of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg and had served as eucharist minister of this church. Bob served as manager for 23 years and was an avid supporter of the Wallace City Pool.

Bob so loved his family and grandchildren, they meant the world to him. Bob would love to take his father John, fishing every year. He also was instrumental in the development and enjoyed maintaining and taking care of Morehouse Baseball Field in Osburn.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Schreiber of the family home in Osburn; two sons, Shon (Erin) Schreiber of Aberdeen, Wash., and Rob (Angi) Schreiber of Ocean Shores, Wash.; three grandchildren, Madi, Lily and Sammy; one brother, Dick (Bea) Schreiber of Kellogg; his honorary son, Kip McGillvray of Osburn. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg and funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Wallace High School gymnasium. A potluck reception and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Wallace Elks following services. Interment services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Pinehurst. A visitation/viewing will be held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel; everyone is welcome.
