State-qualifying wrestling tourneys set for Saturday
RATHDRUM - Lakeland High will be the site for the 5A Region 1, 4A Region 1 and 3A District 1 wrestling tournaments on Saturday.
Matches begin at 9 a.m., with the championship matches scheduled for around 4:30 p.m.
The top three placers in 5A and 3A, and the top two in 4A, advance to state Feb. 22-23 at Holt Arena in Pocatello. At-large berths are also up for grabs for the fourth-place finishers in 5A.
Local roller derby team begins season Sunday
COEUR d'ALENE - The Snake Pit Derby Dames are scheduled to open their season Sunday vs. the East Kootenay Roller Derby League team at 7 p.m. at Skate Plaza, 5685 N. Pioneer Drive.

Idaho football team plans tryouts for walk-ons
MOSCOW - Want to be a Vandal?
Here's your chance. The University of Idaho football team is having walk-on tryouts for University of Idaho students.
First, interested students must be in good standing with the university and with the NCAA. Next, they need to report to the Vandal Athletics Training Room next Thursday at 4 p.m. with their insurance card and fill out paperwork with head athletic trainer Barrie Steele.
The on-field tryouts are Feb. 26, beginning at 4 p.m.
