| February 13, 2013 8:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER - Cole Stelow was fouled with 1.8 seconds left and then knocked down two free throws to lift the Priest River Spartans past the St. Maries Lumberjacks 53-52 in a nonleague game on Tuesday at Spartan Arena.

Stelow, a senior, scored 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds for Priest River (10-9), which hosts Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

St. Maries guard Jordan Stapleton had a last-second heave from three-quarter court rim out as time expired.

"It was back and forth with both teams playing well," St. Maries coach John Bisson said. "The game came down to two good teams going at it and the team that made the least amount of mistakes won."

St. Maries (12-8) trailed by 10 points in the third quarter and came back late behind a clutch three-point basket and reverse lay-up on the baseline from Austin Linnemeyer.

Linnemeyer scored 15 points and Warren Joiner added 13 for St. Maries (12-8), which starts the 2A District 1-2 tournament against Orofino on Monday at Troy High.
