Ada Independence Owen Johnson, 89
Ada Independence Owen Johnson, 89, longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene passed away of natural causes on Jan. 26, 2013, at Ivy Court in Coeur d’Alene. She was born on Dec. 28, 1923, in Van Buren, Ark., to Perry and Martha Owen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Elmer Johnson; daughter Linda Baltzell; her parents, and brother James Perry Owen. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ackley (Robert); son-in-law Jerry Baltzell (Barbara); grandchildren, Kelley Shields, Carla Cravalho, Jennifer Patterson and Jeff Baltzell; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Williams, John Owens and Ann Clegg; and several nieces and nephews.
Ada moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1955 and was active in bowling leagues and TOPS. She enjoyed reading, country and western music, and John Wayne movies. Although she spent most of her adult life in Idaho, Ada remained a southern girl at heart. The family wishes to thank Ellen Peyer and the staffs of Heritage Place and Ivy Court for their care and concern for Ada.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Christ the King Lutheran Church at 17th and Pennsylvania in Coeur d’Alene with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangements.
