VETS: Heads up to their spouses

I recently lost my retired vet who was 100 percent disabled. Upon filling out the paperwork at the VA Outreach, they informed me it could take up to 9 months to see benefits and the same possibly with SS. I then asked how a spouse is supposed to pay the bills and he shook his head.

There is something terribly wrong with this whole system! Survivors could lose their home, cars, etc. and eat beans and rice for a long time. This is no way for a vet and his dependents to be treated in this day and age of everything electronic at warp speed.

I for one can manage until such funds arrive but God help those who can’t.
