COEUR d'ALENE - Former Coeur d'Alene High boys basketball coach Kent Leiss, who resigned last Friday amidst issues with his players and their parents, turned in a letter Wednesday afternoon rescinding his resignation - hoping to return as coach of the team.

Issues surfaced following the Vikings' loss at Lewiston on Jan. 29 - which led to his resignation.

"I just didn't like the process of which I was let go," Leiss told The Press. "I am trying to prove that the allegations against me aren't true."

Leiss, 49, was in his 10th season as Coeur d'Alene High coach, with an overall record of 140-91.

Coeur d'Alene athletic director Todd Gilkey said that the school has turned the letter over to the human resources department and had no further comment.

Interim coach Darren Taylor, who was previously the varsity assistant, has guided the team the past two games.

Coeur d'Alene concludes the regular season at Sandpoint on Saturday.
