Chiefs reach milestone with shutout

SPOKANE - Eric Williams stopped 33 shots as the Spokane Chiefs earned the 1,000th win in franchise history, beating the Kelowna Rockets 5-0 in Western Hockey League play Wednesday night in front of 3,469 at the Spokane Arena.

It is Kelowna's first loss in regulation in 20 games.

Mike Aviani and Todd Fiddler had a goal and two assists apiece for Spokane (31-20-2, 64 points), which trails Tri-City by a point for fourth place in the Western Conference.

Mitch Holmberg and Brenden Kichton had a goal and an assist each for Spokane, which travels to Cranbrook, British Columbia, on Friday to face the Kootenay Ice.
