Post Falls man charged in eight- vehicle crash

SPOKANE - A 57-year-old Post Falls resident was charged with negligent driving after an eight-vehicle crash that injured two people on eastbound Interstate 90 just east of Maple in Spokane on Friday morning.

Avery Hargette was driving a 2000 Isuzu truck at 10:26 a.m. when the vehicle struck seven other vehicles that had stopped for a previous collision, according to Washington State Patrol.

Hargette was not injured.

Sandra J. Heffernan, 42, Spokane, a driver of another vehicle, was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was still being evaluated and in the emergency department on Friday afternoon.

Hashimah A. Sultan, 34, Cheney, a passenger in another vehicle, was transported to Deaconess Medical Center.

All nine people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts, according to WSP.

Hargette was the only Kootenai County resident involved.
