Karen Sue Payne, 53

| February 2, 2013 4:20 PM

Karen Sue Payne, loving mother, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Jan. 24, 2013, at age 53. Karen fought against stage 4 terminal brain cancer for two years.

Born Jan. 29, 1959, in Albuquerque N.M., to James and Geraldine Busby. She grew up with her sister Kim and brother Jim. Karen was a cheerleader in high school and went on to marry Lance G. Payne, her husband of 16 years whom with she had her two children, Lance T. and Jordan J.

Karen became a stay-at-home mother and home schooled both of her children. In January 2006 she and Lance G. divorced. Karen was an amazing encouragement to her sons and with unwavering love and support she saw them through deep struggles. Throughout these times Karen never ceased to pray and trust in God. Before she passed she was able to see both of her boys in stable loving environments; free from their struggles. Karen also encouraged many women whom have dealt with many of the struggles she had been through herself. She was an inspiration to all that were able to know her and she exuded the passion of Jesus Christ in all aspects of her life. Karen had a great sense of humor and usually had a smile on her face. She had many friends but her best friend is Jesus who she is surely with now.
