Condo fire reported
The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department responded to a fire call Thursday night at the Parkside condo after smoke and flames were reported on the ninth floor of the structure.
Crews were dispatched at 8 p.m., after a neighbor reported seeing smoke and flames on an interior wall with water flowing in the apartment, fire officials said Friday.
A second alarm was immediately called for bringing additional units from both Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and Northern Lakes Fire District.
A total of five engines, two ambulances and 19 personnel responded, a fire department press release said.
After arriving, crews determined the fire likely self-extinguished due to a domestic water line being damaged by the fire and extinguishing it within a couple feet of its origin.
The fire cause appears to be electrical in nature at this time, starting in or around a built-in home surround sound speaker.
The fire is still under investigation at this time.
The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department said quick action by neighbors alerted the fire department to the problem as the resident of the condo with the fire is in the process of moving out.
The fire didn't grow large enough to activate the fire sprinkler system within the residence.
