Violet Woolf, 92
Violet Woolf peacefully passed from this life on Jan. 30, 2013. She had celebrated her 92nd birthday on Jan. 27, 2013, with some of her family members. She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Sylvia, Kan., to Harl R. Shull and Lena L. Shaft.
She had four sisters and two brothers. Her family moved to south eastern Colorado and that is where she met and married Joe Woolf her lifelong companion of 67 years. They had two children: Gene Woolf of Yuma, Ariz., and Joanne McIntire of Hayden.
She was a great friend to all who knew her and the ultimate homemaker. You could always expect a wonderful home cooked meal at her table. She was an excellent seamstress, making many square dance outfits for herself and Joe in their younger years. Violet was a member of Eastern Star in Quincy, Wash., and enjoyed garden club and her walking group when in Port Angeles, Wash. In their retirement years she and Joe had many memorable vacations with their camper group. She had a full happy life and often remarked about how surprised she was to have lived longer than anyone in her entire ancestry.
Joe preceded her in death in 2007. Violet has one sister, Lela Weinmann, still living in Denver, Colo., as well as eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed here, but we know she is now enjoying an amazing family reunion with those who have gone before. We express our gratitude to all those at Fairwinds and Ivy Court who loved her as we did.
A private family service is planned at a later date. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, is in charge of the final arrangements. Please visit Violet’s memorial and sign her online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
