SCAM: Almost caught in a bad net

The Jan. 29 Press article re: the “bail money” scam is exactly my experience.

The young caller said, “Do you know who this is?” I have two grandsons in their early 20s, so I answered “either Joe or Bob.” He said “this is Bob” and I was hooked.

The news article described exactly my experience. I sent the money through telegraph.

I kept wondering if I was scammed, but couldn’t figure out how.

Then I remembered that the initial caller didn’t initially identify himself as Bob — I offered that name. Luckily I was able to cancel my telepraph payment, so I was only out my embarrassment to be so naive.
