No. 8 Arizona holds off Huskies

Nick Johnson scored 15 points, five in the final 2 minutes, and No. 8 Arizona rallied from an early deficit for an ugly 57-53 victory over Washington (12-9, 4-4) on Thursday night at Seattle, snapping a three-game losing streak to the Huskies.
Mark Lyons and Solomon Hill both added 10 points for the Wildcats (18-2, 6-2), who won their second straight after losing at home to UCLA. This victory by the Wildcats won't be remembered for the quality of play, but Arizona remained just one game behind Oregon at the top of the Pac-12 Conference standings.
California 71, Oregon State 68: At Berkeley, Calif., Richard Solomon's dunk with 17.6 seconds remaining capped a big run by California over the final 8 minutes, and the Golden Bears (12-8, 4-4 Pac-12) rallied from 12 points down in the second half to beat Oregon State (11-10, 1-7).
BYU 63, Pepperdine 61: At Malibu, Calif., Tyler Haws scored 21 points and BYU (17-6, 7-2 West Coast Conference) beat the Waves (10-11, 2-6).
Santa Clara 70, Portland 46: At Santa Clara, Calif., Marc Trasolini had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Broncos (17-6, 5-3 WCC) past the Pilots (8-15, 1-7).
New Mexico State 86, Texas State 72: At San Marcos, Texas, Bandja Sy had 24 points and 13 rebounds and New Mexico State (14-8, 8-2 Western Athletic Conference) beat Texas State (7-15, 3-7).
Denver 71, UTSA 57: At San Antonio, Brett Olson scored 16 points and the Pioneers (12-8, 8-2 WAC) beat the Roadrunners (5-15, 1-9).
Former North Idaho College standout Michael Hale III scored 10 points for UTSA.
Seattle U 56, San Jose State 48: At Seattle, Prince Obasi scored 19 points and the Redhawks (7-13, 2-8 WAC) beat the Spartans (9-12, 3-7).

Montana 81, Portland State 68: At Portland, Ore., Will Cherry had 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Grizzlies (15-4, 11-0) past the Vikings (5-13, 3-8 Big Sky Conference).
