Four - so far - take A in A's challenge

| December 21, 2013 8:00 PM

Anonymity rules!

On Friday morning, annual donor Anonymous in Athol challenged one person from each of Kootenai County's towns and cities to step forward and donate $1,000 to Press Christmas for All - anonymously. A in A, as we affectionately refer to him, is going to match these great gifts and wants to match more.

Right away, four generous souls did exactly that.

The last big donation was brought in at 4:30 by a man who literally tossed an envelope on the front counter and dashed right back out. The envelope was addressed to editor Mike Patrick, was marked Personal & Confidential, and taped shut. Inside were ten $100 bills, a $1 bill, a dime and a penny.

And a note:

Kudos to A in A for both generosity and anonymity. We are not affluent but we gladly accept the challenge. Enclosed is slightly more than what is needed to meet the challenge. Please acknowledge only the amount necessary to meet the challenge. While we do not consider it probable, the additional amount will help identify us in the future, if necessary.

We also hope that some of your largesse will find its way to people who do not normally identify themselves for fear of losing their children or otherwise being sanctioned by various bureaucracies.

Yours in Christ's name,

A in C

Please follow A in C's selfless example. Press Christmas for All still needs $80,000 to make goal. If you're up to A in A's challenge, please stop by The Press, 201 Second St. in downtown Coeur d'Alene, on Monday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
