Roberta Lea Whennen (Bobbie) 90

Our Mom went home to the LORD December 6, 2013. She had been in the wonderful care of Life Care of Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho Hospice. Mom was born July 2, 1923 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Chauncey and Mayme Bales. She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and thereafter married Jeremiah Mahoney. They had a daughter Val (Denny Scieszinski).

She returned to Ottumwa and married William Whennen, and they had four sons: Robert (Deborah), William (Lisa), Patrick (Andrea) and Mike. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1966. Mom worked as a desk clerk at various motels. In 1990, she moved to Idaho with Denny and Val due to health problems.

Roberta is survived by all her children, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sister JoAnn (Robert Boyd), four nieces and two nephews. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Keith.

Donations will be used to help feed families in Coeur d’Alene during Christmas. Mom did the very best she could with what she had and always endeavored to do her best.
