Drugs, jewelry stolen

| December 3, 2013 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene woman was away from her house for less than two hours on Nov. 27.

That was all the time a burglar needed to enter her home and steal approximately $1,900 worth of jewelry and medication.

According to a Coeur d'Alene Police Department incident report, officers responding to the call first noticed that the kitchen "was in complete disarray."

Kitchen cabinets were opened, their contents scattered on the floor. The bathroom at the residence was in a similar state, with the cabinets under the sink opened and items left on the floor.

Cd'A officers then entered the master bedroom and found the same tell-tale signs of a burglary.

When questioned by Cd'A police, the resident said that while she knew she had locked the deadbolt on the front door, she was not certain she had locked her rear sliding door.

After clearing the home, officers walked through the house with the resident in order to asses what, if anything, had been taken.

"We first entered the kitchen and she told me there were some medications missing from the cabinets in her kitchen," the incident report states. "Next we went into the master bedroom and she showed me a jewelry box that was on the bathroom counter. She believes she is missing some medications from her bathroom and some jewelry from her jewelry box."

The missing jewelry included a pair of diamond earrings, a diamond pendant and a black pearl necklace.
